You open the door unsure of what you are walking into. You take a step in and see colorful lights in blue, green, yellow and orange. Your children’s eye open wide with excitement as they spot trains! They run though the door seeing books with trains, fairies, construction machines, and animals, tool boxes, doll houses, and so many wonderful treasures. Their little feet stop at the edge of the carpet. Their feet unsure of where to take them next. Do they run straight to play with the trains on the track? Do they run to the left to build their castle preparing for the knights to come and knock down the walls? Or Do they run to the right to grab a sweet stuffed toy to snuggle with? Which direction do they choose, which toy do they choose while they wait for their hair cut? This is why children love coming to AmberSky to get their hair cut.
I wanted to take a moment to share with you why we created a family salon unlike any other salon in St. Louis. When I was the mother of a newborn child, I found that my days were absorbed with caring for my young one. Not only was there no time for myself, but I found that there were very few truly family-oriented services available for new parents and their children.
When creating our hair salon, my intention was to create a truly family-oriented space, where both parents and children could get their hair cut and styled in comfort.
I’ve specifically set up the facilities so that new parents can take that little extra time for themselves while knowing that their children are also having fun. The primary difference between AmberSky and other St. Louis hair salons is that we are completely oriented to the family. No need to worry whether you will be made to feel like you or your child is a nuisance. Whether you need to breastfeed or your toddlers need to stand on their heads and belt “Old McDonald” at the top of their lungs, there is no need to be embarrassed. This space has been created for both of you.
Why would you as a stylists want to work at AmberSky? You are not just working at a salon, you are part of a community. You will build relationships and bonds with your clients that you value and treasure. You will create friendships, be added to scrap books and create memories for children that will never be forgotten.
Our salon is commission based. We feel that working for an hourly wage is unfair to the stylists. They work so hard and are often taken advantage of and over worked working for a simple hourly rate. We also understand that their is a lot of risk going out on your own and renting a station. Commission is the best of both worlds, our stylists are valued, supported, and we help you to build your clientele.
Not every stylists will thrive at AmberSky. We are looking for stylists who are motivated and excited to be part of a community. Someone who loves working with children and building relationships with the entire family.
